Hampton Regional ER Expansion
Hampton Regional ER Expansion
Varnville, SC – November 2024. Hampton Regional Medical Center is pleased to announce the construction of a new addition to the hospital, an Emergency Department Expansion.
This expansion will add 5,731 square feet of space to the existing structure, triage space, and 12 new exam rooms. Additional parking space and rerouted ambulance bay will also be included in the project. This will take the current six bed facility to an 18 bed, state-of-the-art emergency department. This project is necessary to sustain and improve emergency care.
During these improvements, which are estimated to take ten to twelve months, there will be some re-routing of traffic and parking. As demonstrated on the attached diagram, the job site will be located in the current ER parking area, so Emergency Department patients and visitors will be directed to the parking lot in front of the hospital. Traffic around the job site will be limited to ambulance traffic only, as to ensure emergency patients have direct access to the emergency room at all times. Fencing will be placed on November 18, and construction will start the first week of December.
During construction, there will be no changes to the services the Emergency Department provides. We will continue to be available 24 hours a day, seven days a week to serve our community. This expansion demonstrates HRMC’s investment in this community and dedication towards the health and safety of our citizens, providing cutting edge emergency care, close to home.
